Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors if you can and know the signs of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

In case you are unaware, there is a statewide ban on all burning until further notice. That includes any and all open burning. If you have a burn permit that was issued, it is no longer valid. This drought is serious and fires can spread rapidly and out of control, regardless of the size your fire or how closely you’re watching it.

Any call related to open burns will also be notified to the Union County Fire Marshalls and the NC Forestry Service.

There are no exceptions to this ban until further notice. Please check the forestry website below for any updates or with any further questions regarding the ban.
