The logistics of training firefighters can be very challenging, especially on a limited budget.

A district resident and friend of Win-Bur-Sew donated 2 vehicles for us to use in fire and extrication training. These were transported to our training site with the assistance of Maggio's Towing.

Support like this helps us maximize Tax dollars while improving firefighter readiness to protect our community.

Just a reminder of the Village of Winnebago Police Department for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM!

National Night Out is a great opportunity for residents to come together, meet their local first responders, connect with neighbors, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep our community safe.

This year's event will feature:

🚔 Meet your local police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel
🐕 K-9 Demonstration
🚗 Classic Car Show
🌭 Free food for all attendees
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly activities and community engagement

We would also like to invite local businesses and organizations to participate by setting up a booth to showcase their services, products, and community involvement. This is a great opportunity to connect with residents and support a positive community event.

FINAL UPDATE ON THE FIREWORKS TONIGHT

⚠️ FINAL FIREWORKS UPDATE ⚠️

The pyrotechnics company has advised that, due to current weather conditions and safety requirements, they must safely discharge the fireworks already loaded in order to clear the site.

As a result, an abbreviated fireworks display (approximately 15 minutes) will take place when conditions allow it to be done safely.

This will occur at the discretion of the pyrotechnics crew based on weather and safety considerations.

With weather conditions remaining unpredictable, we ask everyone to prioritize safety and use caution when making decisions.

We are not encouraging anyone to gather outdoors or travel to view the display. The timing will not be announced, as it is entirely dependent on safe operating conditions.

Please continue to monitor weather alerts and remain safe.

⚠️ WEATHER UPDATE / EVENT CANCELLATION ⚠️

Due to rapidly changing weather conditions and the potential for severe storms in the area, all Village of Winnebago Fourth of July events are hereby canceled effective immediately for tonight only. At this time, the parade is still a go!

This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of all residents, visitors, staff, and event partners.

We understand how much these celebrations mean to the community, and this was not an easy decision. However, safety must remain our top priority.

Please continue to monitor local weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel or outdoor activity while storms are in the area.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
