The Village of Winnebago is excited to announce that, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Dustin Jarrard - Country Financial and PrimPups Dog Salon, HitWave 80's Cover Band Chicago will be performing live from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM before our fireworks show!

Join us at the Winnebago High School Football Stadium as HitWave 80's brings your favorite 80s hits and patriotic classics to the stage in celebration of America's 250th Anniversary. It's the perfect way to kick off an evening of community, music, and fireworks.

Bring your lawn chairs, bring your family, and enjoy a great summer evening with friends and neighbors. After the performance, stick around and enjoy the fireworks display!

State Representative Tony McCombie will be holding Traveling Office Hours at Winnebago Village Hall on Monday, May 11 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.

Residents are welcome to stop by to ask questions, discuss state-related concerns, or connect with her office regarding available state services and programs.

Last night, the Village Board recognized National Police Week and honored the members of the Winnebago Police Department for their service to the community.

The evening also included a department awards presentation recognizing officers for leadership, professionalism, initiative, and service above and beyond the call of duty. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the work that often happens behind the scenes to keep our community safe and strengthen relationships throughout the Village.

We are grateful for the dedication of our officers and thankful for the continued support our community shows the Police Department each day.

The Village of Winnebago Public Works Department will be flushing and flow testing fire hydrants, beginning today April 29th, Weather permitting.

The fire hydrant flushing, and maintenance may take place at all hours. Flushing the fire hydrant ensures their safe and reliable operation and removes the accumulation of natural deposits in the water mains.

Flushing of mains may cause temporary discoloration of the water supplied to your home. This water is safe for drinking and cooking but may stain light colored clothes during washing. Please check your faucets and water fixtures for discoloration before starting your wash. If light colored clothes become stained, you may purchase a product called “Iron Out.”

This product is available at local hardware stores. If you notice discoloration in your water, you can clear your system by simply running your water for a couple minutes. Any questions should be directed to the Village Office at 815-335-2020.

Residents may notice utility markings and other activity along the Prairie Trail. This corridor is an existing ComEd electric transmission right‑of‑way, and the trail operates within it under a lease agreement. ComEd owns and maintains this right‑of‑way and will be conducting work within their corridor as part of their utility operations.

Due to the severe weather conditions, GILLS Freeport Disposal has delayed service by one day this week.

For Village of Winnebago residents, trash and recycling collection will occur on Wednesday.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as crews work through the storm and encourage residents to stay safe and warm. ❄️

Village Notice – Monday, March 16 ❄️

Due to the snowstorm, the Village’s administrative offices are closed today (Monday, March 16).

Public Works crews remain out working throughout the community to clear and treat roadways. If possible, residents are encouraged to stay off the roads to allow crews to safely complete snow removal operations and improve travel conditions.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as crews continue working to keep streets safe.

The Village of Winnebago is declaring a Snow Emergency effective Sunday March 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. and continuing until snow removal crews have been able to complete their plow routes after the storm.

Under the Village’s Snow Removal Parking Regulation Ordinance, no parking is allowed on any Village street during a declared Snow Emergency, regardless of the amount of snowfall. Vehicles left parked on the street during this period may be subject to ticketing and towing.

Residents are strongly encouraged to move vehicles off the street before the Snow Emergency begins and until the Snow Emergency is lifted, which will occur once snow removal crews have fully completed their plow routes.
