Our members, auxiliary, and guests enjoyed a wonderful breakfast this morning, all prepared and served with smiles and enthusiasm by these outstanding young ladies. Your hard work, kindness, and community spirit made our event extra special.

One hundred and seven years ago, in March 1919, a group of weary but determined American veterans gathered in Paris, France, after World War I. Officers and enlisted men from the American Expeditionary Forces held a caucus that birthed The American Legionโ€”officially chartered by Congress later that year on September 16, 1919.

Their simple goal? Mutual helpfulness, advocacy for veterans, and strengthening the nation they fought for.

Fast-forward to 1944: The Legion played a pivotal role in drafting and pushing through the Servicemen's Readjustment Actโ€”the famous ๐†๐ˆ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅโ€”signed by President Roosevelt on June 22, 1944. It opened doors to college, homeownership, and new beginnings for millions of WWII veterans (and generations after), transforming lives and communities across America.

That same spirit of service and advocacy lives on right here in Winneconne at Giles-Luce Post 364โ€”honoring our local heroes (Giles & Luce) and supporting veterans, families, and our community every day.
