6:45 AM Tue 09/01: Almost everyone will see mostly light rain showers this morning or early this afternoon, before attention turns to thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The greatest coverage and severity will be east of Martin and Kadoka, while an isolated thunderstorm can't be ruled out elsewhere across the region too.

Today's temperature was a pleasant break from the warmer weeks. Rain will return to the area Tuesday morning through early afternoon for most of the area. Once the clouds move out, the sun will heat us up once again, reaching the upper 90s by Friday.

6:55 AM Mon 08/31: Finally...a day with no thunderstorms across the region! Expect dry and warm conditions with light winds and plenty of sunshine. Some clouds will gradually creep in from the south by this evening. Here is a look at today's forecast high temperatures.

August comes to an end this week but the weather really isn't changing much. Temperatures will still be at or above normal for several more days. Passing storms are likely this evening. Monday is looking dry with another round of rain and thunder likely on Tuesday.

6:50 AM Sun 08/30: Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening from northeast Wyoming, across the Black Hills, into the northwestern South Dakota plains, especially north of Interstate 90. A few could be severe producing damaging winds of 60-75 MPH, some hail, and frequent lightning. Stay weather-aware!

While most will stay dry, there is still a possibility for isolated thunderstorms this evening. Storms popping up in Wyoming early this afternoon could drift into the area later this afternoon and evening. A similar setup is in place for tomorrow and early next week. Can’t rule out that some storms could be strong to severe with wind and hail being the main concerns. Afternoon highs will continue to be warmer than normal, mainly in the 80s to 90s.

08/29/2026

6:40 AM Sat 08/29: While many will remain hot and dry, isolated thunderstorms remain possible each afternoon and evening this weekend. A few may be severe!

08/28/2026

6:25 AM Fri 08/28: As usual, not everyone will get hit, but a few storms may be severe! Timing today looks to hold off until generally after 2 PM in northeast Wyoming, after 4 PM across the Black Hills, and after 5 PM east of Rapid City. As we head into the weekend, continue to stay weather-aware and monitor for any warnings, especially if you have outdoor plans!
