Due to recent rainfall, additional rain in the forecast, and increasing relative humidity, the burn ban has been rescinded effective today at 1200 hours.

🔥 Winn Parish Burn Ban Update 🔥

The burn ban for Winn Parish has been rescinded effective April 30, 2026 at 1200 hours.

While this is a positive step, please understand that drought conditions still exist across our area. With forecasted rainfall and higher relative humidity levels, conditions have improved enough to allow for the safe lifting of the ban at this time.

⚠️ If you choose to burn, please do so responsibly:
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep a water source nearby
• Clear a safe area around your burn pile
• Avoid burning during windy conditions

We appreciate the cooperation and patience from the public as we continue to navigate these unusually dry conditions for this time of year.

Stay safe, Winn Parish. 🚒

🚨 Winnfield Fire Department Safety Message 🚨

E-Bike Charging Safety 🔋⚠️

Electric bikes are becoming more popular—but they come with a serious fire risk if not handled properly. Most e-bike fires involve lithium-ion batteries, and many occur while charging.

🔥 Stay Safe with These Tips:

• Never charge overnight or unattended
Most fires happen during charging—always keep an eye on it.

• Use only the manufacturer’s charger
Aftermarket or cheap chargers are a leading cause of battery fires.

• Charge on a hard, non-flammable surface
Avoid beds, couches, carpet, or near anything that can burn.

• Keep batteries away from heat and sunlight
High temperatures can cause batteries to overheat and ignite.

• Watch for warning signs
Swelling, strong odors, leaking, or overheating = STOP using immediately.

• Don’t block exits
Never charge e-bikes near doors or escape routes in your home.

🚨 If a battery starts smoking or catches fire:
GET OUT, CALL 911, and stay out. Lithium battery fires spread fast and are extremely dangerous.

✅ Simple rule: If you wouldn’t leave your stove unattended, don’t leave your e-bike charging unattended.

Update on drought conditions from our friends at WPFD3

Update on drought conditions from our friends at WPFD3

Winn Parish Drought Update 🚨🔥

The latest drought conditions were released this morning, and unfortunately, the news was not good for Winn Parish. Our parish has now escalated to 100% D3 Severe Drought conditions.

While we do have some rain in the forecast, it is currently only a 60% chance of around ½ inch on Saturday 🌧️, with additional scattered chances late next week. Although any rainfall is welcome, this amount will likely provide only temporary relief and do very little to slow the progression of the drought.

Unfortunately, this rain will also be followed by a cold front that is expected to drop relative humidity into the 20% range for 2–3 days, along with moderate winds 💨. These conditions will create an even more dangerous fire environment 🔥 across our area.

Please continue to use extreme caution with anything that could cause a spark or open flame. Conditions remain very favorable for wildfire activity. 🚒

Stay safe and help us protect our parish.

🔥 Flashover Prop Training – 4/13/26 🔥

On April 13, 2026, firefighters participated in hands-on training using a flashover prop, sharpening their ability to recognize and react to one of the most dangerous fireground events.

Crews focused on reading fire behavior, identifying warning signs of impending flashover, and practicing proper techniques for survival and suppression. This type of live-fire training is critical in preparing our personnel to make fast, informed decisions under extreme conditions.

Training like this ensures we stay ready to protect our community and each other when it matters most.

We would to take a moment to say thanks to Winn Parish Fire District 3 for letting us join in on the class and Louisiana FETA for brining the prop.

Stay safe. Stay ready. 🚒🔥 Part:2 Video
