Unfortunately, the fire service has experienced another heartbreaking loss.

Chief Robert Roe of Bossier Parish Fire District #1 has passed away following a courageous battle with cancer.

Losses like these happen far too often within the fire service, and each one is a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who dedicate their lives to serving others.

Please join Winn Parish Fire District #3 in keeping the family, friends, and fellow firefighters of Chief Roe in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Chief Roe. Your service and dedication will not be forgotten

Our hearts are heavy for the Meaux/Nunez Fire Department and the family, friends, and fellow firefighters of Mr. Robert Hughes, who tragically lost his life in an accident while responding to an incident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his fire department, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. Please keep them all in your prayers during this difficult time.

Worsening drought conditions and shifting winds will contribute to increased fire danger Today across the entire Four State Region. Follow burn guidance of local officials, as several counties/parishes are currently under burn bans.

🔥 BURN BAN NOTICE 🔥

The National Weather Service is predicting the possibility of flash drought conditions developing beginning Saturday and continuing into next week.

Flash drought occurs when drought conditions rapidly intensify due to a combination of existing dry conditions, lack of rainfall, extreme heat, and low humidity. These conditions can quickly increase the threat of wildfires and rapidly spreading outdoor fires. 🌡️🔥

Due to the increasing fire danger, we have determined that it is in the best interest of public safety to initiate a BURN BAN.

🚫🔥 The burn ban will take effect Friday, August 14, at 8:00 AM and will remain in effect until further notice.

We ask everyone to please take this seriously and help us reduce the risk of preventable fires during this period of increased fire danger.

We were grateful for the invitation to speak at the recent Kiwanis Club meeting. We truly appreciated the warm welcome, wonderful hospitality, and opportunity to share with such a great group of community leaders. Thank you for having us!

🚒 Winn Parish Fire District 3 Speaks at Kiwanis Club! 🚒

Great news for Winn Parish! Chief Dustin Parker and Captain John Fannin joined the Winnfield Kiwanis Club this week to share updates on our parish fire protection—including a major milestone: Winn Parish Fire District 3 has officially improved its PIAL rating to a Class 5! 🎉
Here are a few quick highlights from their presentation:
🔹 14 Stations & 37 Units: District 3 covers the parish with 14 stations and a fleet ranging from brush rigs to an 8,000-gallon tanker at 8920 Hwy 501.
🔹 Improved Insurance Rating: The jump to a Class 5 PIAL rating reflects increased training (over 110 total department certifications!) and improved operational response. Many of these certifications were earned thanks to the creation of a Training Officer position filled by Matthew Harrell (son of former City of Winnfield Fire Chief Edward Harrell), who provides ongoing local instruction for the firefighters.
🔹 425+ Free Smoke Alarms Installed: Through partnerships with the Red Cross and State Fire Marshall, District 3 has protected 323+ residents in 123 homes over the last two years. Need a smoke alarm? Contact the department! Non Emergency Number 318 628 1230.
🔹 Fire Prevention Bureau Coming Soon: Work is underway to combine public education, pre-planning, and fire investigations into one dedicated division to better serve our community.
