We want to give a big thank you to the Sheriff’s Office deputies for their quick actions during a structure fire yesterday around 6:20 PM.
This incident started as a stove fire. The homeowner attempted to put it out, but the fire had already extended into the microwave and cabinets. Before fire units arrived, a deputy made entry, stretched a water hose, and began extinguishing the fire. That quick response played a major role in saving the home from further damage.
We also want to recognize Deputy Chris Walker, who was among the deputies on scene assisting with the incident.
Upon arrival, our crews completed extinguishment, checked for extension, and ventilated the residence to ensure no further fire spread.
We also appreciate the rapid coordination in getting an ambulance on scene for the homeowner who was experiencing smoke inhalation.
These types of quick, decisive actions truly make a difference—they save lives and protect property every day.
Thank you to the Sheriff’s Office for your continued support and dedication to our community.

Tonight on AJ Stevens Road, we had a structure fire, and Deputy Walker went above and beyond. He got out of his unit, helped pull lines off our first engine on scene, and assisted our crew in fighting the fire.
We’re grateful for the support from the Sheriff’s Office and everything they do for our parish.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Strong family during this difficult time.

🚨 Red Flag Warning – Please Use Extreme Caution 🚨
At this time, our area is under a Red Flag Warning. While we are NOT currently under a burn ban, conditions are very dangerous for any outdoor burning.
🔥 What does a Red Flag Warning mean?
A Red Flag Warning is issued when dry conditions, low humidity, and strong winds create a high risk for fires to start and spread rapidly.
⚠️ If you choose to burn, please use extreme caution:
• Avoid burning if possible during these conditions
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep water or a hose nearby
• Clear the area around your burn pile
• Be mindful of wind — fires can spread quickly
Our department has already seen how fast fires can get out of control in these conditions. We want to keep everyone safe and prevent unnecessary emergencies.
🚒 If in doubt — don’t burn.

🦃🍁 Happy Thanksgiving from the Winnsboro Fire Department! 🍁🦃
We want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you enjoy this day with your family and friends.
If you’re frying a turkey today, please remember to stay safe. Never put water on a grease fire—it will make the fire worse. Keep your fryer a safe distance from your home, stay nearby while cooking, and be prepared just in case something gets out of hand.
Everyone be safe, enjoy your time together, and let’s have a great day here in Winnsboro!
