Winona County is considering cutting $76,000 from its libraries: Winona Public Library, Saint Charles Public Library, & La Crescent Public Library. Winona Public Library would lose $62,000 of the funding. This would greatly impact services for county residents, including Hoopla, outreach, computer assistance for county programs (court services, housing, food), and more. We need county residents to contact their commissioners to support our libraries.

Remember: Strong libraries build strong communities.

We are happy to support this program at the library!

The Krueger Library - Winona State University is showing The Librarians tomorrow at 6pm. The documentary is about librarians combating book bans and censorship. You can view it in person or online.

Have you seen the award-winning documentary "The Librarians," yet? We are excited to announce a public screening of the film, which follows librarians and community members as they combat book bans and censorship. Then, attend a Q&A panel with librarians and library advocates after the film.

Snacks and beverages will be provided. This event is open to everyone and starts at 6 PM on March 24th, in person (Stark 103) and via Zoom. To join us virtually, go to the Winona State Event Calendar page (www.winona.edu/about/event/the-librarians-screening-guest-panel/).

Thanks to incredible leadership by Professor April Herndon (WSU English Department), a wonderful list of sponsors (WSU English Department, Winona State College of Education,Equity & Inclusive Excellence - Winona State University , Winona State College of Liberal Arts, Darrell W. Krueger Library), and collaboration with WSU librarians (Reference & Liaison Librarian Aurora Jacobsen and Engagement & Liaison Librarian Kayla Olson), we are thrilled to say that in addition to being able to invite spectacular speakers to this panel, this collaboration will also allow our library to maintain continued access to the film through a license, which means our campus will be able to view it through our catalog in the future. More to come about how WSU and local Winona patrons can access the film.
