⚠️ Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect ⚠️

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for our area until 8:00 PM CDT tonight, Wednesday, June 17.

Main threats include:
🌪️ A couple tornadoes possible
🧊 Hail up to 2 inches possible
💨 Wind gusts up to 70 mph possible

If you are attending Winona Steamboat Days, please stay weather aware. Have multiple ways to receive warnings, know where you would go for shelter, and be ready to move indoors quickly if storms approach.

Stay alert and monitor trusted weather sources for updates. Severe weather can develop quickly.

12:47pm | The Storm Prediction Center is anticipating a watch may be needed (60% chance) over the next 1-2 hours for much of our area. Stay weather aware this afternoon, especially if you have outdoor plans.

🌩️ Active Weather Pattern Ahead 🌩️

Winona County is entering an active weather pattern, with the potential for strong to severe storms over the next couple of days. Conditions can change quickly, so now is the time to stay weather-aware and prepare.

✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts
✅ Charge phones and backup batteries
✅ Secure outdoor items that could blow away
✅ Know where you would go during a tornado warning
✅ Review your family emergency plan
✅ Check on neighbors, older adults, and anyone who may need extra help
✅ Never drive through flooded roads — Turn Around, Don’t Drown

Stay alert, monitor trusted weather sources, and be ready to act if warnings are issued.

A line of thunderstorms will move through the region during the evening and overnight hours on Thursday. Storms will initially move into southeast MN and northeast IA where a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms is present and lesser confidence further east. Damaging wind gusts and hail up to quarter sized will be the main threats with any severe storms. Be sure to stay weather aware and seek shelter as storms approach!

⚠️There have been many tornadoes reported along the line of storms coming through southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. Please stay weather aware and don't mess around with these storms. Take shelter immediately if you are in the path of these storms!
