Early morning vehicle accident caused damage to a major power line, causing loss of electricity to a portion of the Winona fire District for a short period of time Sunday morning.
Working around these high voltage down powerlines can be a very dangerous environment for first responders. Thank you to all of our neighbours who avoided this area during the response time. Luckily, there were no serious injuries at this incident.

Saturday training: review of types of fire classification and extinguisher use. This was a joint training with all three Winona stations, including our SCESD2 career and volunteer firefighters. The extinguisher prop is a tool used to simulate both class A and class B fire extinguishment with handheld portable extinguishers. The use of a portable extinguisher in the right circumstances can put out small residential fires without introducing damaging volumes of water to the home.

Have you seen this pack?

Hey wonderful folks in the Winona Fire District:
Today during a wildfire response this wildland equipment pack may have fallen off one of our grass trucks - somewhere between Winona and Red Springs.
If you’ve seen this pack, can you please contact Winona volunteer fire department so that we can get this back in service for wildland response? 😁🙏🏻
