Stop by the Winona Lake Park Bandshell on the Swing into Spring Anniversary Adventure Tour this coming Saturday (May 4th) from 12- 4pm! The historic structure that brings so much delight to musical audiences past and present turns 100 this year! Today, the Naumburg Bandshell and Winona’s bandshell are the few, if not the only, surviving bandshells of this style.

On tour day, hear stories from Municipal Band - Second Century members and get up close to the magnificent bandshell at Lake Park. Remember, you have a chance to win $100 if you fill out at least FOUR of the anniversary answer questions...and one of them is at the Bandshell! In case of bad weather, this station’s activity will be hosted at the History Center, where the new "Joy of the Arts" exhibit featuring the bandshell is located.

In honor of Preservation Month in May, each year the Winona Heritage Preservation Commission presents an annual award to individuals or projects that exemplify caring stewardship and support for preservation in the City of Winona. Past award winners include those volunteering their time, breathing new life into cherished buildings, and projects supporting the architectural fabric of Winona for another 100+ years.

Each year in April, the HPC votes to commend an individual or project. Nominations are open to the public and any project or person will be considered by the commission.

The Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Kostka of Winona, Minnesota is on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The NRHP is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance.

The ceiling of the Basilica Minor’s dome pays homage to the Trinity besides the four Evangelists. ( I darkened the color to emphasize the central configuration )
