The girls showed plenty of grit and determination.

After falling behind 3–1, the girls battled back to even the score and force overtime. The comeback was a true team effort, anchored by returning veterans and fueled by contributions from several freshmen playing in their first varsity games.

After reaching the state finals last season, this group knows what it takes to compete—and tonight, they showed that same fight.

There’s a lot of soccer still to be played, and this team is just getting started.

High school Foundations of Art got off to a creative start with a series of hands-on stations exploring different ways to make and think about art. And there’s plenty more ahead! The class will introduce students to painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking throughout the year.

What a day! 💚

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 2026 Friendship Festival and helped make it such a wonderful celebration of our community!

From skating and mini golf to train rides, the bounce house, lawn games, crafts and more, there was something for everyone—and the kids definitely made the most of it!

A huge thank you to all of our vendors, community partners, volunteers and everyone who shared their time and talents with us. Thank you to all of the amazing competitors who participated in the Rice Dish Competition, and to our incredible performers who kept the afternoon and evening full of energy.

We were also thrilled to welcome Champ from the Vermont Lake Monsters and Miss Black USA. Thank you for spending part of your day with us!

And a very special thank you to Winooski School District's Craig, Anson and Sulley for all of their support in making the festival happen. We couldn't have done it without you!

Most of all, thank you to the Winooski community for showing up, connecting with one another and celebrating friendship together. ❤️

Friendship Festival — This Sunday!

🎉 Winooski Friendship Festival is THIS SUNDAY! 🎉

Join us Sunday, August 30, from 2–9 PM at the Winooski School District, 60 Normand St., for a free, family-friendly celebration of the people, cultures and stories that make Winooski such a vibrant community.

There’s something for everyone:

🎶 LIVE MUSIC — starting at 2 PM
Enjoy KeruBo and her vocal jazz band. The lineup also features Winooski High School’s The Unheard Stories, and AALV’s African & Bhutanese Nepali Dance Troupe.

⚽ SOCCER TOURNAMENT — starting at 4 PM
Soccer players, unite! Come join us for a walk-on soccer tournament! Players of all genders and ages will come together to form co-ed teams and compete for awesome prizes! Want to play? Just show up and join a team! Special thanks to the United Way of Northwest Vermont for supporting the tournament.

🎨 COMMUNITY MURAL — 4–7:30 PM
Help bring Winooski to life through art! The Friendship Festival worked with the Winooski High School art teacher to create a composition telling the story of Winooski through the eyes of its students. Come help paint the mural’s outline and make it a truly community-created work of art.

🍚 RICE DISH COMPETITION
Community members, restaurants and catering businesses have prepared and entered their favorite rice dishes for the festival’s friendly Rice Dish Competition. Festival-goers can enjoy the competition and sample the delicious dishes representing the many cultures and culinary traditions of Winooski.

🚎 FREE RIDES
Burlington Trolley Tours will provide free rides to the festival within Winooski from 2–6 PM.

SPECIAL GUESTS: Champ, mascot of the Vermont Lake Monsters, and Miss Black USA will make appearances.
