Homolovi State Park SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

Arizona State Parks strongly believes that social media is a tool for consumers and communities to receive updates.

We encourage interaction and discussion on any of our posts. We believe firmly that social media must be a safe space for all participants to engage in full and fair dialogue. All posters are encouraged to agree or disagree on any positions on any of our social media outlets. We remind individuals who post, that children, youth and families have access to all of these posts and we want to maximize

participation that is free from intimidation or bullying. Name-calling, intimidation or bullying of other social media participants will never be tolerated. Abusive, excessively disruptive and harassing posts will also be considered prohibitive of the fair and safe space we intend to maintain. Posts with unrelated information or political agendas will be removed. We will monitor communications and take appropriate action in order to ensure that these policies are consistently adhered to.

Baby Augie and Mana Angie are the names for our August Burros. Burros don’t usually have a specific breeding period so we can see young ones in the park at anytime of the year. We have been seeing quite a few young burros and horses recently.

It’s been pleasing to watch the progress the plants in the garden have been making. We have a few small melons, the bean plants are looking healthy, and the corn is doing what corn plants do.

This week Kenn Evans received a Stewardship Excellence award. Kenn is an outstanding member of our team here at Homolovi and an amazing member of our local community here in Winslow. He has been at Homolovi since its early years. He’s the park’s assistant manager, helped build the astronomy program here at Homolovi, and has been involved developing local parks and events in town. Kenn is a member of several community organizations. Congratulations, Kenn! It is a very well deserved honor.

Park pest control was out in force this past week. With the warm, moist weather brought on by monsoon season, we’ve been seeing an uptick in insect activity throughout the park. The spider highlighted in the photos is a Western Black Widow. This ranger is very glad to have spotted it, and avoided being bitten.
