LIFE STAR M&M registration link is LIVE!

We will be returning to the LIFESTAR hanger in Westfield for an evening of trauma education, pizza and fun on Monday, September 21st.

Join us to earn 2 hours of M&M CEUs while enjoying brick oven pizza and reviewing medical and trauma cases from across Western Massachusetts. Hear from Dr. Zapcic-Desrochers, Dr. LeBlanc, and LIFESTAR crews as they share real-world cases, clinical insights, and lessons learned.

We are excited to share a new resource that is available on our trucks!

One of our team members created these sensory support bags designed to help patients that may need addl. support. This bags are called “Joseph’s Sensory Bags” in honor of our chief's son Joseph who is autistic.

These bags are intended for patients of all ages who may be experiencing anxiety, overstimulation, communication difficulties, or simply need something to help them feel more comfortable during transport or while receiving care.

Some EMS agencies in the US have implemented sensory bags and responders have found them extremely helpful!

This will provide our crews with another tool to help make these patient interactions just a little more comfortable. A big thank you to Angela Bardino for spearheading this project!

We had the opportunity to attend Burlington’s MCI drill on Saturday August 29th, which focused on a school bus accident scenario utilizing heavy wrecker equipment (Rotator). With over 40 volunteers from Burlington Fire and EMS, Harwinton Fire, Canton EMS, Harwinton Westside Fire, Winsted EMS, Harwinton Ambulance, and Farmington Motor Sports came together for this training.

The drill included multiple evolutions utilizing 20+ simulated victims from Harwinton and Burlington Boy Scout Troops and area paramedic classes. We were also supported by State/Region resources for Mass Communication and Mass Casualty.

This was a great opportunity to practice triage, communication, patient care, and teamwork during a mass casualty incident and stay prepared for the real thing.

A big shout out to Burlington Fire and EMS for hosting this drill!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of life member Ed Harris. Ed passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 75 and has been a member of our organization for 35 years. He was very involved in the town of Winsted, serving on the Winsted Fire Department as well as retiring from Winsted schools.

At Winsted Ambulance, life membership is not an automatic designation, it is a special designation voted on by the membership for those who have made a major contribution to the organization and bring experience and insight that they gained during their time with the organization.

We express our gratitude to Ed for his 35 years of service and the many years after his retirement where he remained an active part of our organization, providing his valuable insight and friendly presence.

Calling hours will be Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 1-4pm (obituary: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/edward-harris-obituary?id=62267831).

Winsted Ambulance had a great time taking part in the Winsted Fire Department Fireman’s Carnival Parade! We always enjoy getting out, supporting our community, and spending time with our fellow first responders.

Join us for the Winsted Volunteer Ambulance Open House, a family-friendly day to meet your local first responders, explore emergency vehicles, and learn some potentially lifesaving skills!
There will be plenty of fun and activities for the whole family, including Touch-a-Truck, a dunk tank, and a photo booth! We’ll also have hands-on educational activities for both kids and adults, including Stop the Bleed demonstrations, 9-1-1 practice for kids, EMS equipment displays, and information about recognizing the signs of stroke and heart attack.
