Greensboro residents whose City of Greensboro home property tax was higher in 2024 than it was in 2021 may qualify to receive a check for the difference. For the third year, the City is offering a program to support Greensboro’s low-income homeowners. Information about the program has been sent in property tax bills to those living within the city limits.

Applications may be submitted using the online application system. It allows applicants to select from dozens of languages, such as Spanish, Arabic, and Khmer. The deadline to apply is October 31.

When entering the online system, applicants must create an account by following the prompts. At the “Start a New Application” section, applicants should click on “Low-Income Homeowner Assistance Program” and begin the application.

A list of documents needed to apply and directions on how to submit a hard copy of the application can be found in the “Application Process” section of this webpage. Eligibility requirements can also be found on the page. Note that applicants must live within Greensboro city limits, have a household income of $54,800 or less, and cannot have received tax assistance from Guilford County programs.

Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Residents who received assistance in previous years are required to submit another application if they wish to participate in the program again.
