POLLEN REPORT: Friday, October 23, 2026
Today's W**D pollen rating is 4 LOW (67% Ragw**d).
Today's TREE pollen rating is 3 LOW.
No GRASS pollen was observed in today's sample.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 10/24: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sun 10/25: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Mon 10/26: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

Prolonged dry and sunny conditions have allowed for LOW pollen levels to persist for all types as we near the end of the 2026 pollen monitoring season. High pressure will continue to reside over the Triad through the weekend and into next week, with temperatures remaining seasonal through the period. With no rain in sight, pollen levels should easily remain LOW through Monday. (Payne)

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Fri 10/23: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sat 10/24: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sun 10/25: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

LOW pollen counts for all vegetation types were observed on today’s sample, as dry high pressure continues to keep chances of precipitation out the Triad. Little change in the pattern is expected tomorrow and through the weekend as high pressure remains firmly in place. A shot of cooler air may lower temperatures a bit cooler than normal through Sunday, with sunny and dry conditions keeping all pollen types LOW as we continue to approach the end of the 2026 pollen monitoring season. POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Thu 10/22: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Fri 10/23: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sat 10/24: W**ds = 6 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

All pollen levels continue to be LOW today as the growing season gradually nears its end. Dry high pressure has kept skies clear and dry over the Triad and will continue to do so the rest of the week and through the weekend. Temperatures are expected to remain near normal to slightly below normal through the period, with morning temperatures becoming chilly overnight until each sunrise. With that said, the lack of rain and decreasing daylight/temperatures remain unfavorable for any increases in pollen, with all levels remaining LOW through Saturday (Payne)

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Wed 10/21: W**ds = 10 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Thu 10/22: W**ds = 10 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Fri 10/23: W**ds = 10 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

No pollen was observed on today’s sample, which is to be expected as we wind down the 2026 pollen season. Overnight temperatures have remained above freezing for most locations in the Triad the past few days, but the cooler temperatures and lighter northerly winds may have led to the LOW/ABSENT count. Maximum daytime temperatures will stay nearly seasonable through Thursday as high pressure remains situated firmly over the Triad, until a reinforcing shot of cooler air on Friday drops temperatures slightly below normal. With that said, all pollen levels are expected to remain very LOW through the period. (Payne)

Today's W**D pollen rating is 1 LOW (100% Ragw**d).

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Tue 10/20: W**ds = 16 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Wed 10/21: W**ds = 16 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Thu 10/22: W**ds = 16 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

All pollen levels remain quite LOW today due to the cooler air mass that has moved into the Triad, resulting in lower pollen production. Northerly winds the next few days will help sustain dry and cooler conditions, though temperatures will likely approach near normal for mid-October by the middle of the week. With that said, pollen levels typically wind down this time of year as the threat of frosts and freezes loom. Therefore, all pollen levels are expected to remain LOW through Thursday. (Payne)

Today's W**D pollen rating is 27 MODERATE (13% ragw**d).
Today's TREE pollen rating is 3 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 10/17: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 10 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sun 10/18: W**ds = 20 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Mon 10/19: W**ds = 15 LOW, Trees = 5 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

An uptick in w**d pollen to the lower Moderate range was observed today but only 13% of it was ragw**d. Grass and tree pollen remain Low. A strong cold front will sweep through tonight, bringing with it a few hours of showers and some much cooler air for the weekend. Breezy conditions are expected in the wake of the front tomorrow so plant surfaces should dry out quickly and w**d pollen is expected to rebound to the lower Moderate range. There is currently a non-zero threat of patchy frost both Saturday night and Sunday night. Regardless of whether that materializes, lows in the 30s will likely be cold enough to hold airborne pollen levels in the Low range on Sunday and Monday. (Greg Perrotte / [email protected])

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Fri 10/16: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sat 10/17: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sun 10/18: W**ds = 25 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

All three pollen types are in the Low range on Thursday. Tree pollen was 75% lacebark elm and 25% mulberry. No ragw**d was observed in today’s sample. Following another day with highs in the mid 80s to round out the workweek, a strong cold front will sweep through tomorrow night, ushering in much cooler air for the weekend. Rainfall totals do not look particularly impressive with this front and no major impacts on pollen are expected. If anything, the breezier conditions associated with the frontal passage will aid dispersion. Still, given how late we are in the pollen season, w**d pollen is only expected to hover near the Low/Moderate range threshold. (Greg Perrotte / [email protected])

Today's TREE pollen rating is 27 MODERATE.
Today's W**D pollen rating is 19 LOW (10% Ragw**d).
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Thu 10/15: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.
Fri 10/16: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.
Sat 10/17: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.

W**d pollen concentrations decreased to the Low range and grass pollen remains Low. Lacebark elm levels are similar to yesterday, however, a small burst of mulberry pollen was enough to elevate tree pollen concentrations into the lower Moderate range. This is not likely to be sustained and Low grass and tree pollen are expected for the balance of the forecast period. W**d pollen will likely continue to fluctuate a bit but should generally hover in the ballpark of the Low/Moderate range threshold through Saturday. (Greg Perrotte / [email protected])

Today's TREE pollen rating is 12 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Wed 10/14: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 10 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.
Thu 10/15: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 10 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.
Fri 10/16: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 10 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.

W**d pollen increased to MODERATE today (86% ragw**d) while grass pollen decreased to LOW. Tree pollen was also LOW with the only tree pollen observed being lacebark elm. Warm dry weather is forecast through Friday. Winds will be mostly light, but the seasonably warm temperatures could help w**d pollen to stay in the lower MODERATE range for the next three days. POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Tue 10/13: Grasses = 25 LOW, Trees & W**ds = 10 LOW.
Wed 10/14: Grasses = 22 LOW, Trees & W**ds = 10 LOW.
Thu 10/15: Grasses = 17 LOW, Trees & W**ds = 10 LOW.

Somewhat surprisingly, grass pollen is in the lower Moderate range today. Tree (83% elm and 17% pine family) and w**d (17% ragw**d) pollen are Low. Dry weather is on tap through Thursday and there will be a warming trend with high temperatures pushing into the mid 80s. Wind speeds, however, will be lighter than today which should help reduce pollen dispersion. We are getting quite late into the pollen season here in the Triad and I do not expect Moderate grass pollen to be sustained and concentrations should decrease back to the Low range.
