🧡 It’s Thankful Thursday — and Thanksgiving Day.

As we wrap up our Thankful Thursday series, we’re ending with what we’re most grateful for — the incredible strength and resilience of our guests.

Every day, we witness courage in its truest form — from those taking their first steps toward stability, to those rebuilding their lives one brave decision at a time. Their hope reminds us that gratitude isn’t about having everything — it’s about believing that tomorrow can be better.

Today, as many of us gather around the table with family and friends, let’s take a moment to honor those who may not have a table to sit at, yet still find the strength to keep going. 🕊️

A huge thank you to the Winston-Salem Alumni Chapter and Delta Chi Undergraduate Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for showing up in a big way at Bethesda Center past weekend! ❤️

The brothers not only put on an incredible spread of delicious food, but also brought generous donations that will go directly toward helping our guests feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Our guests had such a great time — your kindness and fellowship made the day extra special. 💙

Thank you for continuing to be the change right here in our community.

Employee of the Month: Rick Lyles

Today we are celebrating someone whose commitment has shaped the Bethesda Center for more than a decade. Rick Lyles has been part of our team for 12 years and has served in several roles during his time with us. No matter the position, he has always shown the same passion and steady dedication to the guests we serve.

Rick consistently goes above and beyond. He supports the shelter with donated supplies, and he encourages others to give as well. Many of the donors who contribute through him are people he once coached with in the school system, a reflection of the lasting relationships he builds and the impact he has made.

Most importantly, Rick shows up every day with a heart for service. His reliability and genuine care for our guests make a difference in ways that cannot always be measured but are felt by everyone around him.

Please join us in congratulating Rick on being our Employee of the Month. We are grateful for his ongoing commitment to our mission and our community.

🍪✨ Calling all local bakers and sweet souls! ✨🍪

We’re looking for a local bakery (or a few Christmas angels!) to help bring some old-fashioned holiday joy to our guests at the Bethesda Christmas Party on December 18th.

This year, we’re helping everyone go back in time — to that cozy memory of decorating Christmas cookies with friends and family. ❤️

We need 200 unfrosted cutout cookies (sugar or gingerbread) so our guests can experience that same joy — a moment to create, laugh, and feel at home for the holidays.

As we reflect on what we’re thankful for this season, we can’t help but think of our incredible meal sponsors. 💛

Each evening, our guests gather around for more than just a meal — they share connection, hope, and the comfort of knowing that someone in the community cares.

Whether it’s homemade chili from a family, pizza from a local business, or trays of food dropped off by a church group — every bite tells our guests they’re not forgotten.

🇺🇸 Today, we honor our Veterans.

At Bethesda Center, we are deeply thankful for the men and women who have served our country with courage, strength, and sacrifice.

Many of the guests we serve are veterans themselves — individuals who have given so much and now deserve the same care, dignity, and stability they once fought to protect.

Today and every day, we stand in gratitude for their service and in commitment to supporting them as they rebuild and heal.

A big thank you to the Wake Forest Biomedical Engineering Department for lending a hand at Bethesda today! From organizing supplies to helping us stay ready for the busy season ahead — your support means so much. Together, we can end homelessness in Forsyth County. 💛

Amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Wow…y’all really showed up yesterday for the !!! With the help of our friends at — we raised $1400 for them to help the homeless men and women here in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.

Through a day shelter and a night shelter, Bethesda Center provides:

✔️ Family Reunification
