Leadership Winston-Salem Igniting Community Leadership! Our mission is educating, connecting and energizing leaders to serve and improve the community. http://www.leadershipws.org/

At Leadership Winston-Salem, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment that reflects the rich tapestry of our community. We believe that diversity—encompassing a broad spectrum of identities, experiences, and perspectives—is a fundamental value and a driving force behind effective leadership and innovation. Our mission is to cultivate leaders equipped to address the complex challenges of our time, and we recognize that this requires a deep understanding of and respect for diverse viewpoints. We actively seek to create a space where individuals from all backgrounds—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, socioeconomic status, or any other dimension of identity—feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives. Our dedication to diversity and inclusivity is not just a belief, but a practice that permeates everything we do. We ensure that our programs, initiatives, and partnerships reflect this commitment. Our curriculum is designed to challenge leaders to think critically about inclusivity and equity, and we strive to offer opportunities that encourage diverse voices to shape the future of our community. Leadership Winston-Salem is also committed to ongoing self-reflection and growth in our approach to diversity. We recognize that achieving true inclusivity is an evolving process that requires constant learning, listening, and adapting. By embracing this journey, we aim to build a leadership community that reflects our collective diversity and actively promotes social justice and equity in all aspects of our work. Together, we can create a more vibrant, equitable, and dynamic community. A community where all individuals, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to lead and succeed. This is our commitment, and we invite you to join us on this journey.

At Leadership Winston-Salem, we believe strong communities are built through understanding, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making a difference!

Our Flagship Class of 2027 recently participated in Our Community Day, an opportunity to explore the rich history of Winston-Salem, examine the barriers that have historically hindered progress, reflect on the challenges we have overcome, and confront the obstacles our community continues to face today.

Through meaningful conversations and shared perspectives, class members gained a deeper understanding of how our past has shaped our present and the important role leadership plays in creating a stronger, more connected, and inclusive community.

Because effective leadership isn't just about knowing our community—it's about understanding its history, acknowledging its challenges, celebrating its progress, and recognizing our responsibility to help move it forward.

A special thank you to our sponsors, Reynolds American Inc. and Siemens Energy, for their generous support and continued commitment to developing informed, engaged, and impactful community leaders! We were also delighted to welcome Walter Farabee, representing Reynolds American, and Kris Ritter, representing Siemens Energy, who shared remarks with our class. We sincerely appreciate their participation and the meaningful partnerships that make experiences like Our Community Day possible!

We extend our gratitude to St. Paul's Episcopal Church for graciously hosting us and providing a welcoming space for a day of learning, reflection, and meaningful dialogue.

And to our dedicated Our Community Day Committee, thank you for the time, thoughtfulness, and hard work invested in planning and coordinating such an engaging and impactful experience. Your commitment to creating opportunities for learning and connection truly brought the day's purpose to life!

❤️ Understanding where we've been helps us recognize where we are—and inspires us to lead our community toward where we can go together!
