☀️ Heat Advisory: Thursday from Noon to 8:00 PM
A Heat Advisory is in effect for central North Carolina with heat index values up to 105°.
We want to remind everyone to take this heat serious!
Stay safe by:
• Drinking plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Taking frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
• Wearing lightweight, light colored clothing.
• Checking on elderly neighbors, young children, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
• Never leaving children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a minute.
🚨 Know the warning signs of heat illness:
Heat Exhaustion
• Heavy sweating
• Cool, pale, clammy skin
• Dizziness or weakness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Headache
• Muscle cramps
Move to a cool place, loosen clothing, sip cool water, and rest.
Heat Stroke (Medical Emergency)
• Body temperature above 103°F
• Hot, red, dry, or damp skin
• Confusion or unusual behavior
• Slurred speech
• Seizures
• Loss of consciousness
Call 911 immediately. Move the person to a cooler area and begin cooling them with cool water or cold, wet towels while waiting for help. Do not give fluids to someone who is unconscious or confused.
Take care of yourself, look out for your family, and check on your neighbors. A quick phone call or knock on the door could make all the difference.
