Dr. Fran and her mother, Mildred Hash; better known to the world as Mother Hash, the International Mother and Humanitarian Extraordinaire raise funds for the Women’s Shelter to support their mission of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all targeting homeless women and women with children living in shelters. The Prestigious Mildred T. Hash Torch Award gives sponsorships to women in shelters
who complete the Life Skills programs to help them reestablish themselves back into stability.. The Hawley House is a Women’s Substance Abuse Recovery Facility that houses women for a period of 9 – 12 months and offers 6 months of aftercare for women ages 18 and older diagnosed with the disease of addiction. Hawley House provides women with training in personal development, group counseling, job assistance, housing assistance, and more to assure that women maintain their sobriety and become an important part of our community. This program is the only licensed women’s substance abuse recovery facility in Forsyth County. Over the past year, the Hawley House programming was instrumental in reuniting 13 families, provided 365 days of housing, served 11,490 meals, enrolled 16 women in recovery services, provided 312 individual and 52 group counseling sessions, 80 referrals, over 1500 rides to work and provided 26 weeks of case management. In 2010, 69% of the residents learned to change the way they think and live, 81% of the residents completed all of their short and long term goals, 50% were able to find and keep employment. People, businesses, churches, and organizations from across the country are lining up to assist with this worthy cause. Plans for 2014 have been orchestrated and will be disclosed the first quarter of the New Year.
