Speed tables/humps and signage in Bermuda Run East and Kinderton Residential are scheduled in the coming weeks. Following the signage, speed tables (humps) will be installed in these areas. Based on the study in Kinderton Residential and on Ivy Circle, these measures are aimed at reducing vehicle speeds and part of the Town’s ongoing commitment to roadway safety.

🌧️🌸 A rain garden is a designed, depressed area in the landscape that collects rainwater from roofs, driveways, or streets, allowing it to soak into the ground. Planted with grasses and flowering perennials, rain gardens are not only cost-effective but also help reduce runoff from your property. 🌿🏡

These gardens filter out pollutants in the runoff and provide food and shelter for butterflies, songbirds, and other wildlife. More complex rain gardens with drainage systems and amended soils are often referred to as bioretention. 🦋🐦

ATTENTION WEST FORSYTH HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY:
*As a reminder, the updated traffic pattern on Lewisville-Clemmons Road (first implemented in April 2025) remains in effect to improve safety for students, drivers, and pedestrians near West Forsyth High School.
“NO PARKING OR STOPPING ANY TIME ON L-C ROAD” signs are posted along the designated section of Lewisville-Clemmons Road. This measure addresses the ongoing safety hazard caused by vehicles stacking or stopping during student drop-off and pick-up times.
*Officers continue to enforce this rule, and violators will be ticketed starting August 17.
*You can utilize the alternative route into the school by coming up Holder Road and then turning right onto Southwest School Road. Go past the elementary school, bus lot and ballfields. Students can exit out of the vehicles on Southwest School Road as well as at the main entrance.
*We appreciate your continued cooperation in helping keep our community safe.

Roads help connect our communities, but they can divide wildlife habitat.

As North Carolina continues to grow, highways can separate animals from the food, water, shelter, and mates they need to survive. The result? More dangerous crossings for wildlife and an increased risk of wildlife-vehicle collisions.

That's why NCWF is part of the Safe Passage Coalition—a collaborative effort working to reconnect habitat through research, partnerships, and wildlife-friendly solutions.

Throughout August, we'll explore why habitat connectivity matters and how these efforts are helping create safer journeys for wildlife and the people who share the road.
