Today members of the West Orange Political Alliance and the West Orange Chamber of Commerce joined family members, friends, former colleagues, and numerous elected officials during the ceremonial renaming of a section of South Street as “Senator Geraldine F. Thompson Way.”

The celebration recognized the late Senator's legacy in civil rights, education, and community empowerment, as well as her decades of public service to Orange County and the State of Florida.

The West Orange Political Alliance (WOPA) congratulates candidates LaVon Bracy Davis, who is running for Senate District 15, and RaShon Young, who is running for State Representative for District 40, on their primary election wins. West Orange County voters cast ballots in a special election yesterday to select candidates for the September general election. WOPA proudly endorsed both candidates.

As these two candidates advance to face additional opponents, voters will return to the polls on Tuesday, September 2nd, to select the overall winner in both races.
