This year, we secured $2,784,000 in state funding for projects that will make a lasting difference in our community. These investments reflect our values: safe streets, clean water, and healthier families. They now head to the Governor's desk, one step closer to becoming law.

$1,500,000 for the Oakland Lake Apopka Initiative
Supporting ongoing efforts to restore and protect the health of Lake Apopka, improving water quality for the surrounding community and ecosystem.

$784,000 for the Windermere Roundabout Upgrade - 6th Avenue and Main
Improving traffic flow and safety at one of Windermere's key intersections, easing congestion for local drivers and pedestrians.

$500,000 for the Windermere - Chase Road and Main Street Intersection Improvement Project
Enhancing traffic flow and safety along Main Street for smoother, safer travel through the heart of Windermere.

My office wants to hear from YOU regarding the Governor’s property tax proposal. We’ve heard a range of perspectives from across our district, and we want to hear directly from you on what the Legislature should prioritize during this week’s Special Session. A final vote is expected to reach the House floor tomorrow.

You can contact our office by phone or email, or simply share your thoughts in the comments on this post. We make it a priority to respond to every message we receive, and we will do no different here.

While you may see a reduction in your property tax bill, it could also lead to significant changes in how local services are delivered. Public libraries, police, fire and rescue, mental health services, and more will be impacted.

To clarify the proposal: a “yes” vote from Rep. Spencer would allow a measure to eliminate non-school homestead property taxes to be placed on Florida’s 2026 ballot for voters to decide this November.

A “no” vote means the proposal would not move forward to the ballot and would not be put before voters.

Last week, we had the opportunity to stop by the Tri-County League of Cities meeting, which this month was hosted in the Town of Windermere right here in HD-45.

Congratulations to this year's Home Rule Heroes for their continued advocacy on behalf of Florida's local communities. Local governments are often the first to hear directly from residents and the first called upon to respond to the challenges facing their communities. Strong partnerships between state and local leaders are essential to ensuring our communities continue to grow, thrive, and meet the needs of the people we serve.

Always grateful for the opportunity to connect with and work alongside local governments in HD-45 and across Central Florida.

This Memorial Day I was honored to attend ceremonies at Veteran's Memorial Park in Winter Garden and Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha. Hearing direct testimony from distinguished veterans - including those that served in the Second World War and the Korean War - served as a powerful reminder that the freedoms and rights we so often speak about were secured at an immeasurable cost.

Memorial Day is not simply the unofficial beginning of summer, it is a solemn reminder of the generations of Americans that were called to sacrifice everything for people they would never meet and a country they believed was worth defending. The debt owed to those who never came home can never be truly repaid, but it must always be remembered.

To the fallen service members whose courage shaped the nation we know today, and to the families who carry that sacrifice with them every day, we honor your legacy and remember you with profound gratitude.
