Caregiver burnout is real, and prevention matters.
When you are caring for someone you love, it is easy to put your own needs last. But the truth is, you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Jen’s top 3 tips for helping prevent caregiver burnout:
1. Take time for yourself
Whether it is a walk, reading a book, getting your nails done, playing golf, or simply stepping out of the house for a bit, self-care is not selfish. It is necessary.
2. Get proper rest
Good sleep matters. When you are exhausted, it becomes much harder to care for someone else well.
3. Find support
Support groups, Bible studies, lunch with friends, or caregiver communities can make a huge difference. You were not meant to do this alone.
Caregiving can be beautiful, but it can also be heavy. Taking care of yourself helps you continue showing up with patience, strength, and love.
