We have another treat coming up, Winter Park! Come join us Saturday, September 12th from 9AM-11AM for another edition of Fix It! Don’t Pitch It! 🔧

Fix It! Don’t Pitch It! Is a community repair workshop fixing small appliances, electronics, bicycles, jewelry, eye glasses and watches, mending clothes and woodworking, and more! 👩‍🔧

Back in March at the 25th annual Florida Linemen Competition, something happened for the very first time; a Kids' Rodeo! Shoutout to our Winter Park Electric linemen, Gerald & Tommy, for coordinating the entire thing. ⚡

So, 25 years of the Florida Linemen Competition called for some reflection. Featured in Relay's latest issue, public power leaders, including Winter Park Electric's Gerald Vargas, shared how the Competition has shaped safety, skill & community.

Meet Jorge “JR” Rivera, who has been serving the City of Winter Park since 1994, when he joined the team at just 19 years old.
JR started with us parttime setting up events at the Civic Center and worked his way up to Assistant Chief of Recreation Facilities, helping coordinate everything from weddings to special events. When the Civic Center closed, JR brought his years of city experience to our Utilities Warehouse team.

Today, JR and the warehouse team help keep departments across the city prepared by ordering, organizing and maintaining an inventory of parts for Public Works, Electric Utility, Water & Wastewater Utilities and more. Whether it’s a routine repair, an upgrade or an unexpected emergency, they help make sure our crews have the parts they need to get the job done.

JR doesn’t just keep our warehouse stocked. He helps keep Winter Park prepared. 🛠️ Thanks, JR!
