Labor Day Closure Reminder

City Hall, offices, and facilities will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day and will reopen Tuesday, September 8, during normal operating hours.

Please also note that Waste Pro will not provide household garbage, yard trash, or recycling collection services on Monday, September 7. Collection services will resume on the next regularly scheduled service day.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Overnight lane closures for portion of S.R.-434 at S.R.-417

The City of Winter Springs is advising residents and motorists of an upcoming overnight road closure that will impact traffic.

Beginning Tuesday September 1, through Thursday September 4, 2026, S.R.-434 at S.R.-417 will be closed in both directions from 11:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. as part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s SR-417 widening project.

Due to the closure travelers will need to plan for traffic delays and utilize Red Bug Lake Road as an alternate route while the work takes place.

Detour information:

• S.R.-434 traffic wishing to travel east will be directed to Tuskawilla Road/C.R. 419, travel south on Tuskawilla Road to Red Bug Lake Road, and travel east on Red Bug Lake Road to S.R. 434.

• S.R.-434 traffic wishing to continue west will be directed to travel to Red Bug Lake Road, travel west on Red Bug Lake Road to Tuskawilla Road/C.R. 419, and travel north on Tuskawilla Road to S.R. 434.

Sidewalk Project Update:

Work is underway on the City of Winter Springs’ sidewalk repair and replacement project in the Tuscawilla area.

Crews are removing and replacing sections of sidewalk along several streets in Zone 8. Please continue to use caution when walking in the area and be mindful of crews and active work zones.

Trotwood Park Playground Reopened!

As of August 28, the Trotwood Park playground has officially reopened following the completion of resurfacing, maintenance, and cleaning.

Please note that the park bathrooms are still undergoing renovations and remain closed at this time. Portable restrooms are available on site for park visitors to use during the renovation.

The City of Winter Springs will be conducting smoke testing of the sewer
system beginning September 2, 2026.

Crews with USSI LLC will be forcing safe-smoke oil into the sewer lines to identify leaks and defects, improving wastewater treatment operations and efficiency. The test generally lasts about 15 minutes from start to finish.

Smoke may be visible coming from manhole covers and roof vent stacks, and should not enter homes.

The smoke is odorless, safe, and has no adverse effect on people, plants, or animals.

It is recommended that residents pour 2-3 gallons of water into seldom-used sinks and floor drains to prevent smoke from arising due to low water pressure.

Residents may contact USSI at 1-888-645-9570 or 941-926-2646 between 9 am and 4 pm to inquire about testing.
