Today, we remember our dear friends, Kathy Pelton and Heather Carpenter. Each of them, in so many ways and for so many years worked to help end dog racing.
Kathy hosted outreach tables and organized statewide rallies against dog racing in Florida, lobbying her lawmakers until the very end. Heather left her beautiful home in the Sunshine State to serve as our campaign coordinator for an early ballot question effort in Massachusetts. She is shown here coloring a map of the voting districts for signature gathering.
Heather passed away recently, leaving her four beloved pitties. Kathy, who was survived by her husband Ken and greyhounds Jack and Jill, was lost to breast cancer in 2017 -- just months before we would advance to the ballot and end dog racing in her state.
