WSHS HEAD BASKETBALL COACH ANNOUNCEMENT: It is our pleasure to announce that our new WSHS Boys Basketball Coach is Coach Samuels!

Coach Samuels (coming to us from Lake Howell HS) brings an unwavering passion for holistic player development, guidance, and forging strong, meaningful relationships with student-athletes and their families. He is deeply committed to nurturing not just basketball skills, but the overall growth of each player—fostering excellence on and off the court, and shaping young men into confident players, dedicated students, and impactful leaders within their communities.

Central to Coach Samuels’ philosophy is the creation of a culture rooted in unity and a family-oriented atmosphere, where every individual feels valued and supported. He strives to cultivate an environment where teamwork, trust, and mutual respect are at the heart of every interaction, inspiring players to uplift one another and take pride in being part of something greater than themselves.

Beyond athletic achievement, Coach Samuels is devoted to assisting families throughout their basketball journey, helping players navigate opportunities at both the high school and collegiate levels, and preparing them for lifelong success beyond the game.

Coach Samuels is eager to get started and looks forward to connecting with current and prospective players as we begin preparing for the upcoming season.

WSHS Welcomes Ms. Raines to WSHS! Ms. Raines will be a Spanish Teacher at WSHS! We asked Mrs. Raines to do a little summary to introduce herself to the WSHS Community!

Hello BearNation! My name is Kelly Raines, and I am thrilled to join the Winter Springs High School family. I bring more than 20 years of experience in education, having worked in middle school, high school, and university settings. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of courses, including both International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) programs. After serving as a school administrator for six years, I returned to the classroom three years ago to pursue my passion for working directly with students.

As a polyglot and lifelong learner, I enjoy exploring new languages and am currently learning German. My experiences living in Brazil, Canada, Panama, and India have fostered a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and global perspectives. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling with my husband, spending time with my family, reading, learning new things, and gardening.

I look forward to becoming part of the Bear community and getting to know our students, families, and staff. GO BEARS!!!

WSHS HEAD GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH: Winter Springs High School is excited to welcome Jermaine Ashley as our new WSHS Head Girls Basketball Coach.

Coach Ashley brings a passion for player development, leadership, and building strong relationships with student-athletes and their families. He is committed to creating a culture of excellence on and off the court while helping young women grow as players, students, and leaders in the community.

In addition to developing athletes, Coach Ashley is dedicated to supporting families throughout the basketball journey, helping players navigate opportunities at the high school and collegiate levels while preparing them for success beyond the game.

Coach Ashley is eager to get started and looks forward to connecting with current and prospective players as we begin preparing for the upcoming season.

WSHS Community: It is my pleasure to announce that Mike Bradley, current WSHS PE teacher, Assistant Athletic Director, and Head Baseball Coach, will be our new WSHS Athletic Director effective Monday, June 1. Mr. Bradley is excited to start his new role as Athletic Director at WSHS and looks forward to the work ahead. Mr. Bradley will remain as our WSHS Baseball Head Coach even in this new role. Congratulations to Mr. Bradley! We can’t wait to see what is ahead for our WSHS Athletic program. GO BEARS!
