Hazel Street (Main St to Arntz St) Repair Update
The section of Hazel Street by the Winter Cooperative parking lot is scheduled to be resurfaced this summer. We realize that it is currently in bad shape so here is an update on repairs.
The funds to resurface this section become available in July. In the meantime, we have ordered cold patch (to be delivered once road bans go off) and new blades for the backhoe. We are coordinating with the Town of Winter to have the street swept. Once all supplies are here (this coming week hopefully) we will fill the street with cold patch. This will be a temporary fix until it can be resurfaced.
We understand the difficult state of this section of road in the Village and we appreciate your patience as we wait for Spring to decide to officially be here so we can patch and later resurface this section.
Thank you!

Update: warning has expired

Sawyer County is currently under a tornado warning until 4:45 pm. Please be safe.

04/16/2026

Note that the statewide annual tornado drill scheduled for today has been canceled. Our weekly drill was yesterday (Wednesday). With severe weather forecasted, if you hear the tornado siren, please note that it is sounded by Sawyer County and it is advised to seek shelter at that time.
Thank you and please be safe!

With scheduled work at the gas station beginning Monday (20 April 2026), we advise all Village of Winter residents and businesses to be prepared for temporary water outages. These are expected to be short, if even at all.
Please call our office at 715-266-4721 if you have any questions.

Some residents of the Village of Winter are experiencing cloudiness in their water. This is because the fire trucks are drawing water from the system for a fire and we have not been able to flush hydrants yet this spring. The cloudiness will clear.
Thank you for your understanding.

Sunday a.m: the snow is starting to pile up and drifting. Lance, Larry and Randy will be plowing, taking a break, and repeating. If you do not need to travel, please stay home and be safe! Our number one concern is everyone's safety!

03/13/2026

Lance and Larry are currently plowing. The snow is very heavy and wet and this will take a while to clean up. The Winter School District has canceled classes for today. Everyone please be safe!

Good afternoon,
We are aware that the red light is on on the lift station by Patti's on 70. There is a concern with one of the seals. The company is already coming on Tuesday to service the Tuscobia lift station, so they will look at this as well. In the meantime, the station is working, but the light will remain on. As always, Lance will continue to monitor it day and night to ensure services continue.
Thank you for bringing it to our attention! We appreciate your help!

The Village is continuing to monitor our Tuscobia lift station very closely. This warmer weather is helping to continue to thaw within the pipe so that flow can resume to normal. This was a result of the extreme cold weather.
However, we also had to pull up the pumps and found these to be wrapped in items that should not be flushed into the sewer system.
Lance and Larry will continue to work on this situation until it is fully resolved. Their diligence is ensuring that there is no backflow. Please do not flush items that should not be put into the sewer system and continue to hope for warmer weather!
If you have any questions, please call our office at 715-266-4721 during regular business hours.
