Can you believe it’s the last day of school at Winterset Junior High? 🎉 Today our 7th & 8th graders spent the day playing kickball and wiffleball, making friendship bracelets, and decorating the sidewalk with chalk — pure joy everywhere! ⚽️🥎🖍️

To our 8th graders: we’re so proud of you and we’ll miss you as you head off to high school next year. Go make awesome memories — and don’t forget to visit! 💙🎒

Incredible Achievement: Mr. Heithoff's 7th Grade Global Studies Class Makes a Real Difference! 🎉

We are so proud of Mr. Heithoff's 7th grade Global Studies students for completing an amazing project called the "Global Food Pantry" — a multi-step, long-term initiative that goes far beyond the classroom!

These students didn't just learn about food insecurity — they took action. Through rigorous research, collaborative teamwork, and genuine passion, they:

✅ Investigated the root causes of food insecurity globally and locally
✅ Packaged thousands of meals for Meals from the Heartland
✅ Raised significant funds through their efforts
✅ Conducted independent research on charities and evaluated programs using detailed rubrics
✅ Participated in democratic decision-making to determine where donations would have the greatest impact

Their dedication resulted in monetary donations to Mary's Meals and the Winterset Paw Pantry, along with support for other food security organizations aligned with their values.

On Thursday, May 21st, representatives from Mary's Meals and the Winterset Paw Pantry visited campus to receive donation checks directly from our students.

This is what real-world learning, student agency, and community impact look like. We can't wait to celebrate these amazing young changemakers!

💖Our Sweetheart Senior, Taylor, is off to college this fall at Iowa State University! 🎓 Today was her last day working in the WJH office, and students came by all morning to give goodbye hugs and share laughs. Although we are proud of her and excited for her future, we’ll miss her like crazy. Please share a quick piece of advice or a warm send-off for Taylor as she begins this new chapter.
