A NEW AND EASY WAY TO SUPPORT CRISP!
We strongly encourage Winterset and Madison County residents to support our local businesses, however, if you aren't able to purchase something local and find yourself shopping Amazon, please consider going through AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that offers the same wide selection of products (and in fact, looks almost identical to the Amazon site). The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organization you select. When first visiting the site, you are prompted to select a charitable organization prior to continuing your browsing/shopping experience. In the case of CRISP, please select Community Resources in Service to People Inc., in Winterset. There are no cost or fees to the charitable organization or customer and the shopping experience is identical to Amazon.com! What an easy way to make a difference!

GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN/KINSHIP GROUP- starting in April!

When parents are absent or unable to raise their children, grandparents are often the ones who
step in. Raising a second generation brings many rewards, including the fulfillment of giving your
grandkids a sense of security, developing a deeper relationship, and keeping the family together.
It also comes with many challenges. No matter how much you love your grandkids, taking them
into your home requires major adjustments. But with the right guidelines and support, you can roll
back the years and make a real difference in the lives of your grandchildren.
As grandparents, we usually have the benefit of interacting with our grandkids on a level that
is once removed from the day-to-day responsibilities of parents.
Also known as “kinship care,” a growing number of grandparents are now taking on the
parenting role for their grandchildren, thus foregoing the traditional grandparent/grandchild
relationship.
Please join Donna Vaughan, facilitator, if you are interested in sharing your experiences, and/
or desire the knowledge and support of others who are raising their young relatives. Child care is
available. Meeting held at St. Paul Lutheran Church. For more information, contact Natalie Montross at 515-468-0407

Beggars Night is tomorrow! Here are some TIPS for a fun and safe night of trick or treating, from our friends at the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center.

Wear some reflective clothing. Carry a flashlight or glow stick.
When going door-to-door, children should be told to NEVER enter a home or approach a vehicle without permission.
Travel in a neighborhood you know. Pay attention to your surroundings.
Always make sure older kids stick together in a group when trick-or-treating….use the BUDDY SYSTEM.
Accompany younger children to the door, making sure a parent is visible.
Only approach a home that has light on, inside and out.
Teach children to tell a trusted adult or call the police if they notice suspicious behaviors.
Consider attending a community center event or organizing a neighborhood party as an alternative to trick-or-treating.
Wait until your children return home before sorting and eating any treats. Even though tampering is very rare, do check candy to throw away any spoiled or opened treats.
HAVE A SAFE AND FUN HALLOWEEN!
