⚠️John Wayne Drive Remains CLOSED Through Saturday 8/8/2026 @ 7am. Please respect the Road Closed Signs⚠️
🚧Strong Progress was made by Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation today applying the final driving surface. Allowing the road to cool through the night will ensure no tracks or impressions are made. This is out of an abundance of caution and ensuring the best possible final product. See the graphic for remaining work.

Heads up! big things happening at the Park this weekend. Celebrating an Iconic landmark and destination of our city. A HUGE Thank You goes out the Friends of Winterset Parks & Recreation and Winterset Parks and Recreation for their coordination with Winterset Police Department and Winterset Fire Department creating an amazing community event and marking a significant point in history. CLARK TOWER WEEKEND PARKING INFORMATION!!

🚗 Planning to join us for the Clark Tower 100th Anniversary? Please read before you come!

To help keep everyone safe and make the celebration enjoyable for all, City Park will be CLOSED to general vehicle traffic during the event.

📍 Vehicle access inside the park is for Clark Tower traffic and limited ADA parking ONLY. Please follow all posted traffic signs and directions from event volunteers.

🅿️ General Event Parking
Please park at the Martin Marietta Softball & Soccer Complex and enjoy the short walk into the festival along the Recreation Trail (it's clearly marked on the map below!).

🚘 Additional Parking
Street parking is also available on surrounding neighborhood streets where legally permitted. Please be courteous to residents, avoid blocking driveways, and obey all parking signs.

♿ ADA Parking
A limited number of ADA parking spaces are available inside City Park at designated locations.

Investing in our facilities and your walking safety. Good job team!

Thanks to the City of Winterset and Lincoln Concrete & Structures, our main entrance and handicap parking will soon be much more safe and accessible for years to come.
Stay tuned for updates, including our use of temporary entrance/exit for the library. We'll keep you posted!

John Wayne drive is getting asphalt removed today.

Starting at 92 and heading southbound.

Fear not Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation will be moving quickly and efficient.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

Beginning Monday, August 3, John Wayne Drive will be closed from Highway 92 to Green Street while Grimes Asphalt mills and resurfaces the roadway.

Work will begin at the north end and move south. Residents are encouraged to use an alternate route into and out of town during construction.

Weather permitting, the roadway work should be completed within one week. Sidewalk ramp improvements will continue afterward.
