The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat. DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
On Saturday April 25, 2026 we will be hosting the drug take back in the lobby of the Wintersville Police Department, 200 Grove Street in Wintersville from 10:00am-2:00pm. Please bring all of your unneeded medications so that they do not sit in your cabinet and risk getting into the hands of the wrong person.
We accept all controlled substance medications (scheduled drugs), non-controlled substance medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, syrups, ointments, creams, lotions, and inhalers.
** We will NOT accept any sharps items, thermometers or batteries, medical waste, aerosols, chemicals/disinfectants such as peroxide, or any personal care products.
Aside from the DEA National Rx Takeback Day, CCSO has a drug drop off box in our lobby 24/7/365. Please follow these same guidelines when placing any items in the drop box.
