This is a widespread issue that is affecting multiple ambulance services.

- Below i have included two different scenarios 1 with Oronoco and 1 with Cottage Grove

We are currently being affected by it in our Service area as well and may have to look into doing the exact same thing and cut back on our service area due to not having the support from our current townships. We have only had 1 township (Alfsborg) and the City of Gibbon sign the contract to support us.

According to Oronoco First Responders, it will no longer serve Oronoco Township effective Jul. 1 this year, despite the township being directly adjacent to Oronoco.

🚨👏 We’ve got a Schmidt hat trick! 👏🚨

Help us congratulate Garret on passing his National Registry and officially becoming an EMT!

Garret is a 2024 graduate of GFW and works full-time as a phlebotomist at Olivia Hospital & Clinic, where he’s already making a difference in patient care every day.

He took the EMT class hosted by Winthrop and put in the hard work to reach this exciting milestone!

And here’s the best part — Garret completes the Schmidt family legacy as the 3rd generation actively serving on our ambulance. With his dad, Nick, and grandpa, Verl, already dedicating many years (decades) to caring for our community, we can officially call this a Schmidt hat trick. 💙

We’re proud to have you on the team, Garret. Welcome aboard, and thank you for stepping up to serve! 🚑

🚑🔥 BIG CONGRATULATIONS and a warm welcome to Darren as he officially joins the ranks of Winthrop Ambulance! 🔥🚑

Darren, a 2026 GFW senior, has successfully completed his NREMT through our Cadet Program and is already stepping up to serve our community. This fall, he will be heading to the University of Minnesota to pursue a degree in Animal Science.

Balancing school, activities, and EMS training takes serious dedication, and Darren has shown he has what it takes. We are incredibly proud to watch our cadets grow into providers and community leaders. The future of rural EMS is bright with young people like Darren answering the call.

🚑✨ BIG NEWS from Winthrop Ambulance! ✨🚑

We are beyond excited to share that another one of our amazing cadets has officially passed the NREMT! 🎉

Miley is a GFW junior, a talented JFK dancer, a Miss Winthrop candidate, and now… a NATIONALLY REGISTERED EMT! 💥👏

She will soon be voted in as a member of the Winthrop Ambulance Service, and we couldn’t be more proud.

This achievement takes countless hours of studying, hands-on training, and dedication to serving others.

Miley, thank you for your hard work, commitment, and heart for our community. We are lucky to have you on our team and can’t wait to see the impact you will make. ❤️

❤️‍🔥🚒🔥 Our friends at Gibbon Fire and Rescue Department are cooking up an amazing meal for a great cause!

Make plans to stop by on Sunday, March 8th and show them some support. Not only does this event help their Fire Relief Association, but the chicken is pretty darn good too! 😋🍗

We’re lucky to partner with such a dedicated and talented group of individuals who serve their community with heart every day.

Let’s help them pack the drive-thru line!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! In just a couple short weeks the whole town will smell like the most delicious chicken you have ever smelled! A full TON (yep, 2000 pounds!!) of chicken has been ordered this year, so we can get even more meals out to the masses!

Mark your calendars, plan to come early (please note the map change!) then head to Whit Wort, The Local, or Grace and Frankie’s for some refreshments and enjoy the best meal you will have all year! 😉

• Know your numbers (BP & cholesterol)
• Call 911 at the first sign of trouble

Two sincere acknowledgments! We extend our profound gratitude to the Gibbon Lions for their remarkable donation, which will substantially contribute to the acquisition of our life-saving Lucas device; we cannot adequately express our appreciation. We also appreciate the Winthrop Chamber's generous contribution of tips collected during Farm City Fun Fest, which will be allocated towards equipment.
