Central Wisconsin Community Action Council (CWCAC) strives to lift people out of poverty
and into a better quality of life. We are a private not-for-profit corporation established in 1966 under the Economic Opportunity Act as part of President Johnsonโ€™s War on Poverty. CWCAC operates a variety of state and federal programs to assist low-income families in becoming self-sufficient and to help our c

ommunities grow and prosper. CWCAC serves the five counties of Adams, Columbia, Dodge, Juneau and Sauk. We have an office in each county including our central office in Wisconsin Dells.

Our Executive Director, Dr. Courtney Hayward attended the Central Wisconsin Community Action Council board meeting today and was given a special recognition from the board and their Executive Director, Fred Hebert. These two are quite the pair and have a mutual respect and appreciation for the hard work they both do to help their communities.

๐Ÿ“ฃ ATTENTION, JUNEAU COUNTY RESIDENTS!

Weโ€™re thrilled to share some exciting news! ๐ŸŽ‰

The Juneau County LFPA Program has been awarded funding through the Hunger Task Force, Inc. Connecting Farms to Families Grant, which means weโ€™re able to add a few more LFPA food distributions in Juneau County this fall! ๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿฅฉ

Many of you have joined us at these distributions over the past few years, but we wanted to take a minute to share what this program is all aboutโ€”because at its heart, it has always been pretty simple.

โค๏ธ local farms โ†’ local food โ†’ local families.

The program purchases mini CSA shares of fresh produce, along with ground beef, directly from local farms and producers. That food is then distributed at no cost to Juneau County residents.

Itโ€™s a simple model with a big local impact: program funding purchases food from local farmers and producers, supporting our local agricultural economy, while that locally produced food goes directly to families and individuals in our community.

The program originally began through a partnership between the Juneau County Land & Water Resources Department, ADRC of Eagle Country โ€“ Juneau County Office, and local farms and producers after grant funding was awarded to help improve access to fresh, locally sourced food.

When the original grant funding ended at the end of 2024, the program recognized the continued need in our community and the value of keeping this effort going.

In 2025, the program continued as a grassroots, local effort, with area farms, producers, organizations, and community partners coming together to fundraise and keep these distributions going.

And now, thanks to the Hunger Task Force Connecting Farms to Families Grant, we have additional funding to purchase more food from local farms and producers and offer additional distributions this fall! ๐ŸŽ‰

Our next pop-up distribution will be held at the Mauston/Lyndon Station Sharing Supper at Mauston High School!

๐Ÿ“ฃ PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE FOR THIS DISTRIBUTION!

Juneau County residents are encouraged to come in and enjoy a hot meal from our friends and partners at Sharing Supperโ€”and on your way out, grab some fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat to take home, while supplies last! ๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅฉ

This distribution is open to ALL Juneau County residents. There are NO income or eligibility requirements to participate- if you're a Juneau County resident, you're welcome!
