Seasonal weight restrictions on Wood County Trunk Highways will begin being lifted on Monday, April, 20, 2026. As a reminder roads remain posted util the signs are removed. All signs are anticipated to be removed by the end of the day on Monday, April 20th

We have been receiving many calls about when Seasonal Weight Restrictions will be lifted. At the time of this post not date has been set yet. Below is a graphic showing historical seasonal weight restriction data. For reference restrictions were posted this year on April 9, 2026.

Seasonal weight restrictions will begin being posted on County Trunk Highways in Wood County on Monday, March 9, 2026.

“TEMPORARY” WEIGHT LIMITS on COUNTY TRUNK HIGHWAYS in WOOD COUNTY will become effective upon posting of such signs as authorized by Chapter 349.16 of the WISCONSIN STATUTES. Miles posted are expected to be the same as in 2025. These SEASONAL WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS will be….Six [6] Tons Gross Vehicle Weight for single axle vehicles, Ten [10] Tons Gross Vehicle Weight for tandem axle vehicles, and a maximum of 24 Tons Gross Vehicle Weight for all others. See the Wood County Highway Department website for a list of County Trunk Highways NOT posted.

We have been receiving many phone calls about when seasonal weight restrictions will be posted in Wood County. Our staff are monitoring conditions. Once a date is set for when the seasonal posting will be imposed we will post that here and on our website.

The Wood County Highway Department imposes seasonal weight restrictions on most county trunk highways during the spring thaw. The seasonal weight restrictions typically occur from mid-March to around the end of April.
