The members of the Wittenberg Fire Department extend our sincere condolences to the Manawa Rural Fire Department on the loss of one of their firefighters, Mark Craig.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark's family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.

It is with great saddness that we share the news that one of our own, Firefighter Mark Craig passed away this morning after a courageous battle against cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, and there were many of them. We'll post when any services are held for him. Thank you Mark for your 42 years of membership with the Manawa Rural Fire Department. Rest easy Brother, we'll take it from here.

Make sure to check and make sure these are clear of snow and/or debris!

After heavy snowfall, snow and ice can block exterior exhaust vents and chimneys. When that happens, carbon monoxide, the invisible killer, can back up into the home. It’s colorless, odorless, and dangerous, and it’s something many homeowners don’t think to check after a heavy snow.

Make sure you check and keep them clear. Stay safe out there! 🏠❄️

Our department was a full house this weekend with EMS providers from around the area, brushing up on their skills. EMTs and First Responders are required to refresh their skills every 3 years in order to keep providing emergency care.
