UPDATE:

The semi truck and trailer have been removed and the road is completely reopened.

At approximately 1:20 PM, a semi-truck traveling from southbound Wixom Rd onto I-96 overturned on the on-ramp to eastbound I-96. The truck was towing a tandem trailer which was not carrying any hazardous material. The accident is being investigated and handled by the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The on-ramp will remain closed while wrecker crews attempt to remove the vehicle from the roadway. It is anticipated this could cause both NB and SB Wixom Rd to be briefly closed while trucks remove the vehicle. We are asking that the public please avoid the area for the next couple of hours.

Due to expected high temperatures, the City of Wixom will open a cooling center. The cooling center is open today, Monday, July 13, 2026, and will remain open through Friday, July 17, 2026, closing at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
