What an incredible day this past Saturday at Kick It For A Cause!

The City Council and School Committee had an absolute blast coming together as a team - laughing, competing, and most importantly, supporting a cause that truly matters.

As School Committee Vice-Chair Ellen Crowley said so perfectly: “I think it's amazing that when a Woburn kid wants to start a non-profit he literally has his whole city government to support him including but not limited to actually playing in a game.”

That’s Woburn. That’s community.

On a personal note, organizations like this mean more than I can fully express. As someone who struggled with suicidality from a young age into my early twenties, I know firsthand how critical it is to have spaces, people, and movements that remind us we are not alone.

If you are struggling right now, please hear this: it does get better, and what’s ahead is worth pushing through. Look around, reach out, and hold on. There are people who care deeply and want to see the rest of your story unfold.

Grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another in joy, in struggle, and in hope.

Hoy celebramos a las madres de nuestra comunidad.

A las mamás que crían a sus hijos, los guían, los defienden y los aman en cada etapa… las vemos.
A las educadoras que cuidan, enseñan y están presentes cada día para nuestros niños… gracias por todo el cariño que entregan en cada salón de clases.
A las servidoras públicas que llevan el peso de su trabajo mientras cuidan profundamente de sus propias familias y de esta comunidad… su compromiso importa.

Hoy puede traer muchas emociones.
Para quienes han perdido a sus madres, honramos su duelo y el amor que permanece.
Para quienes tienen relaciones complicadas o dolorosas, respetamos y damos espacio a su verdad.
Y para quienes quizás no son madres en el sentido tradicional, pero que han dado tanto de sí mismas, guiando, apoyando, estando presentes con paciencia, protección y amor… también las celebramos.

La maternidad no es solo un rol. Es un espíritu de cuidado, fortaleza, sacrificio y esperanza. Y nuestra comunidad es más fuerte gracias a eso.

Les deseamos a todas un día lleno de aquello que les brinde consuelo, conexión y paz.

Today, we celebrate the mothers in our community.

To the moms raising children, guiding them, advocating for them, and loving them through every stage... we see you.
To the educators who nurture, teach, and show up every day for our kids... thank you for the care you pour into every classroom.
To the public servants who carry the weight of their work while caring deeply for their own families and this community... your commitment matters.

Today can hold many emotions.
For those who have lost their mothers, we honor your grief and the love that remains.
For those with complicated or painful relationships, we hold space for your truth.
And for those who may not be mothers in the traditional sense, but who have given of themselves, mentoring, supporting, showing up with patience, protection, and love... we celebrate you too.

Motherhood is not just a role. It’s a spirit of care, strength, sacrifice, and hope. And our community is stronger because of it.

Wishing you all a day filled with whatever brings you comfort, connection, and peace.

The weather is getting warm, and for parents of young kids this means popsicles and playgrounds! Come get a popsicle and provide your input on this inclusive playground!

We invite you to attend our third Public Meeting regarding the Inclusive Playground Design at Library Field. This session will take place at the Library Field playground from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12th, and we encourage parents to bring their children to participate. We will be providing free popsicles for anyone in attendance!

Attendance is flexible—you are welcome to arrive at any time and do not need to stay for the full duration. We value input from both you and your children and look forward to hearing your thoughts on the features you like as well as those you feel could be improved.

We love the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club, and today we had a chance to show that love for 5 kilometers at Connolly’s Kick in for Kids 5K Road Race & Health Walk!

The energy was incredible — from the many volunteers cheering runners on, to our police officers helping keep everyone safe, to the folks who donated, made food, or simply came out to support their friends and neighbors. This is what community looks like.

So grateful to be part of a city that shows up for our kids and for one another.

I had a great time this afternoon joining other city officials, neighbors, and non-profit leaders in raising funds for at their annual telethon. Thank you Woburn 's Council of Social Concern for the tireless work of caring for those in need throughout our community.
