It is hard to believe August is almost here!!! How fast this summer is going!

That means the first Saturday of the month - August 1st - the Huron History Center is open from 1 to 4 pm. There is a whole lot going on this weekend. Especially of historical note - the Towns of Rose and Marion both are having bicentennial celebrations! Please consider honoring and supporting those towns' activities.

If you are in the neighborhood of North Huron Road, looking for something to do with visiting family or friends, or just need a break from - whatever - stop by the Huron History Center! There is lots of Huron history to be found within the walls of the Huron History Center at 6416 North Huron Road. Learn about upcoming Huron and Old Wolcott events and what is being planned for the fall. There are more local celebrations to come with this bicentennial year for Old Wolcott towns - Butler, Huron, Rose, and Wolcott!

Did you know the Huron History Center was previously the old Town Hall? It was constructed in 1849 and in use until the new Huron Town Hall on Lummisville Road was completed in 1979. In 1987, the Huron Town Board designated the Old Town Hall be used by the "Huron History Department" for archival collections and artifacts from the town's local history and people. Over that 39 year period, the collection has grown to include agricultural, domestic, and recreational displays.

Please mark your calendar for these upcoming events -
- History Center and Dayton Mills Schoolhouse will be open Friday and Saturday - August 7th & 8th from 9 am to 3 pm in tandem with the Huron Presbyterian Church Rummage Sale.
- Huron Day - Celebrating 200 Years of Huron Agriculture - September 12 - Huron History Center, Huron Grange, and Huron Presbyterian Church from 10 am to 3 pm. More information coming soon! Still openings for more vendors.
