Throughout his career, Chief Dube has served our department and community with dedication while also taking on numerous leadership roles with IAFF Local 2033. As Chief Dube works his final days with SFD, we thank him for his many years of service and wish him the very best as he begins his next chapter, taking on an executive leadership role with a fire department in South Carolina.

Prospect was doing some work. Great job brothers and sisters...

OVERNIGHT STRUCTURE FIRE

During the overnight hours, the Prospect Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a single family home in town.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active fire inside the residence. All occupants had safely evacuated the home prior to our arrival, and no injuries were reported.

Our mutual aid protocol was activated, bringing additional personnel and resources from the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Naugatuck Fire Department, Cheshire Fire Department, and Beacon Hose Co. No. 1

Crews made an aggressive attack and were able to quickly knock down the fire, preventing further spread throughout the home.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners for their continued assistance and teamwork.

The first ladder truck for the Naugatuck Fire Department was this horse drawn wagon. The horses were owned by a livery company on Cherry Street. They would be brought to the fire station when the fire whistles went off, hitched to the wagon and then respond to the call This was the only horse drawn fire apparatus operated by the NFD.

Date of this picture is between 1909 when the station was built and 1915 when the wagon was replaced by a motorized apparatus.
