STRICT SPACE HEATER SAFETY

With days of below-freezing temperatures coming, Wolcott VFD wants to remind you, if you use an electric space heater to stay warm, do so carefully and safely and not for too long. Misused heating equipment is a major cause of structure fires especially when temperatures are very low.

REMEMBER:

Space heaters go directly into the wall outlet, not into an extension cord, multi-tap or surge protector, like the accompanying photo.

Space heaters are for temporary use. These are not made to heat for extended durations.

Space heaters can be small but mighty in the heat they give off, so you should always make sure there's nothing within three feet of them that could catch fire.

Space heaters should never be left unattended. If you leave, turn it off.

Space heaters can topple if pushed or knocked over by pets or kids. Keep your eye on them.

Wolcott VFD cares about your safety!
