A Pacific weather system will bring periods of strong and gusty winds to the Northern Rockies this weekend. The strongest winds are expected Saturday afternoon thru Sunday early afternoon. Although there is some forecast uncertainty, there is an expectation for at least localized instances of difficult to dangerous travel, blowing dust, and power outages/property damage. Prepare now for the high wind potential.

FYI

A fast moving weather system will bring windy conditions to the plains on Wednesday with the strongest winds expected mid- morning through the early afternoon hours. Impacts will be greatest for those traveling with high profile vehicles or light weight trailers. Use caution and be alert for cross winds and secure loose outdoor items that may become airborne in the wind.

FYI

FYI

Overall windy conditions prevail through the upcoming week into next weekend thanks to an active Pacific upper level jet stream directed into the NW US. Periods of stronger winds are likely to accompany embedded weather disturbances around mid-week and again towards next weekend.

FYI

FYI

Another Pacific weather disturbance will track across the Northern Rockies and MT overnight, increasing the coverage of snow showers and bringing a period of light snow as it passes across southwest MT late tonight through Monday morning.
