Hey Senior friends, it has been awhile since I posted any club updates. So I thought I'd tell you a little story today....What is the the Wolfeboro Senior Citizens Club?
Well here is my Reader's Digest Version!
The Wolfeboro Senior Citizen’s Club (55+) started in Wolfeboro in 1970. They often called the Old Fire House Community Center located on Lehner Street, their home base and was a thriving group of folks! When it started it had 45 members, then over the years it grew to a membership of 475 members with a waiting list to join! The mission of the club was to promote the health and welfare of the senior citizens in the area through social and recreational activities, we feel that it is even more important today.
Since 2020, COVID-19, like a lot of things, affected the membership of this popular program. The Club struggled because the main purpose of the programing is socialization and at that time they met at All Saint's Episcopal Church and after COVID tried to revive the club at the Alton Senior Center with not much luck. We are happy to report that after a few years of a hiatus; the club is actively rebuilding and is very excited to bring the past into the future.
The Wolfeboro Senior Citizen’s Club is funded by legacy donations left for the purpose of transportation for trips for area seniors and to participate in these trips you must be a club member. The current membership rate is $20 per person or $35 per couple.
Currently the Club is offering three out-of-town trips with online registration via Eventbrite or by emailing the address below. We also offer online exercise classes, that meet three days per week. Based on the success of the trips offered last year, this years trips are almost at capacity. The trip committee has begun planning to offer some local meet ups for those who'd like to explore Wolfeboro but would rather not do it alone!
This Membership is managed through a software called Join It. We chose this software to track the memberships because we do not have a home base, and it has the capability to pay by credit card, but we also still accept pay cash or check.
Program of the club is separate from any programming offered by Wolfeboro Parks & Recreation; we apologize for any confusion between the two programs. Club information is distributed via email through Join it or at club meetings. If club members do not email, those members may request information to be mailed to them.
If you have any questions or concerns, about trips, membership etc. please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 603.569.8161.
Sincerely, Amy Capone Muccio, President
