The Onward Wolsey organization’s recent fundraising drive and matching funds have added over $41,000 to the Wolsey EMS Ambulance rebuild project fund! More donations are coming in daily as well, raising hopes that the Wolsey EMS newly rebuilt ambulance will soon be paid off.

Wolsey EMS Association recently rebuilt their ambulance for a total cost of $153,000. Through the generosity of community and local organizations and businesses, donations to date have reached $141,360.

Kris Brandt, a member of Onward Wolsey said, “Onward Wolsey is beyond excited at the outpouring of generosity from our EMS service area! We could not have a successful project like this without the help and support from everyone. Onward Wolsey's entire purpose is to help improve areas of need in our community, and this project was one that our organization felt compelled to act upon. Our initial goal was to match funds up to $10,000, but the outpouring was so much more, and we felt it important to everyone who donated to have their money matched. This resulted in a vote that allowed Onward Wolsey to match all funds we received during the allotted time frame. We can't thank everyone enough!”

“Wolsey EMS is deeply grateful to Onward Wolsey for their efforts in this fundraising drive and appreciates all the donations, large and small, to this drive and to the organization since fundraising began for this project in 2023”, says Wolsey EMT, Caroline McGillvrey.

Wolsey EMS received the rebuilt ambulance in September of 2024 and has been operating it since then. Wolsey EMS also maintains another ambulance as a backup or in case two ambulances are needed.

Michelle Johnson of Onward Wolsey added, “We can't thank everyone enough for always supporting our organization's events and projects. Without the support for our events, we wouldn't be able to support projects like this.”

Rebuilding an ambulance means that the ambulance “box” is the same box that Wolsey EMS had on their old ambulance, but the truck that the ambulance rides upon is a 2024 model. All wiring, captain seats, electronics, etc. were replaced as well during the rebuild. It is essentially a new ambulance but at a reduced cost.

Wolsey EMS encourages anyone thinking of being an EMT to contact any EMT in Wolsey EMS, msg us on Facebook, or email [email protected]. An EMT class is planned for this coming fall.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the individuals, organizations, and workplaces that have donated toward our new ambulance so far! What a privilege to serve in such a caring community!

As you can see from the thermometer below, we are getting closer to our goal. We are still accepting donations for our ambulance. So far in 2025, we have received two sizable donations from Onward Wolsey and Doug Schiltz. Thank you!

Wolsey EMS recently received a grant from BASEC to purchase a digital stethoscope with noise cancellation and amplified sound to make it easier to hear heart, lung and abdominal sounds as we roll down the road in the ambulance. Thank you, BASEC!
