HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heat index values of 100 to 105 expected. * WHERE...Boone, De Kalb, Lee, Ogle, Winnebago, Central Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake IL, McHenry, and Northern Cook Counties. * WHEN...From noon today to 9 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take extra precautions when outside or consider altering outdoor plans. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Dangerous heat and humidity will continue through Wednesday afternoon. Peak heat indices are forecast to be in the 100-105F range once again which could result in heat related illness. Make sure to take precautions to stay cool!

Hot and humid conditions will persist through Thursday with peak heat indices in excess of 100F. While dry conditions are expected Wednesday, periods of showers and storms will return Thursday through weeks end.

Found Property Alert 🚨

This sign was found on the side of Thompson Rd. It is at the police station ready to be picked up. The child’s name is not in the picture for privacy and identification purposes. We have a theory that perhaps it belonged to a fire fighters kid and said firefighter threw it out the window 💁‍♂️.

Drivers across Wonder Lake, another school year is almost here! 🎒📚

That means the school district in Wonder Lake will have ACTIVE SCHOOL SPEED LIMIT ZONES.

Here is what you need to know to keep our community safe:
🛑**The Limit is 20 MPH:** Not a mile per hour faster, but feel free to drive slower!
⏰ **Active Hours:** School zone speed limits apply on school days when children are present, typically from 6:30 AM until 4:00 PM.
🤔 **When in Doubt:** Slow down! Let’s all do our part to keep our students and staff safe.

These little pups were found on Allendale Rd by a good samaritan and brought over the PD. No tags and no chips. If anyone recognizes them, please call us at the PD (815) 728-0535. In the mean time we have them working the front desk. 👮‍♂️
