Response at 01:05 to 1 Humboldt St. for a Vehicle Fire. Companies arrived and quickly extinguished a car fire in the driveway of the home before it could spread. There were no injuries, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Response at 05:31 to 78 Columbia St for a House Fire. Companies arrived to find a fire on the first floor. Engine 901 quickly extinguished the fire. Truck 904 completed searches of the home which proved negative. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Prevention.

There were no injuries.

Last night the cadets at West Point participated in the grueling Norwegian Foot March. This event consists of a 30km march under 25lbs of weight and must be completed within a 4.5 hour time limit. Firefighter and Cadet Luke Cho completed the NFM in under 4 hours while carrying Wood-Ridge Fire Department’s American Flag for the duration of the march. Thank you, Luke for not only representing our county greatly but our fire department as well! Proud is an understatement!

On February 27th, response at 17:09 to 1 State St in the Borough of Moonachie for a Building Fire. Chief Meglio, Chief Maloney, Truck 904, & Rescue 903 responded and assisted in extinguishing the fire. All companies were back in town at 19:30.

The Department extends its Congratulations to Wood Ridge PBA’s Lt Robert Jones on his retirement. Lt. Jones served with the WRFD from 1989-2007 and achieved the rank of Captain. We wish him and his family a happy & healthy retirement!

Response at 16:06 to 417 3rd St, in the Borough of Carlstadt for a Building Fire. All 3 Chiefs, Engine 901, & Rescue 903 responded and assisted in extinguishing the fire. All units were back in town at 17:30.
