We were honored to host Wood-Ridge native and Stanley Cup Champion Bill Burniston at the firehouse today. Bill serves as the Head Strength & Conditioning coach for the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Burniston family has a long history of service to the department. Bill’s brother Tom is an Ex-Chief and current Captain, his nephew Tommy is a firefighter, and his mother Christine was a long serving member of our Ladies Auxiliary.

Congratulations Bill! Thank you for including us in your day.

Response at 13:29 to 16 Veterans Drive for a Car Fire. Moments later, dispatch upgraded the call to a Structure Fire. Companies arrived and were able to extinguish a rapidly extending fire in under an hour. 2 dogs were safely removed from the building. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Prevention. All companies were back in quarters at 16:00.

Moonachie First Aid & Rescue Squad
