Session 9 of Citizens' Academy was packed with activity and great conversations. This session gave participants an inside look at Grants, Emergency Management, and the Public Safety Radio System, three behind‑the‑scenes areas that keep Camden County running smoothly.

Participants got a closer look at how grants support community projects, how Emergency Management prepares for anything from sunny‑day events to major disasters, and how our Public Safety Radio System keeps first responders connected when it matters most.

We loved the great questions and curiosity from the group. Citizens' Academy continues to be a fantastic way to learn, connect, and see county operations in action!

Camden County officially commissioned its new Public Safety Radio System last week at the Camden County Resiliency Operations Center. This marks a significant investment in stronger emergency response and a safer community.

The new system enhances mission‑critical communications for law enforcement, fire rescue, emergency medical services, emergency management, 911 communications, and partner agencies across Camden County. It delivers secure, interoperable, and resilient communication capabilities that first responders depend on for daily operations, major incidents, hurricanes, disasters, and multi‑agency responses.

There has been some confusion about the new 2026 Property Assessment Notice, so here are a few quick reminders.

✅The notice is not a tax bill. It simply shows the value of your property for tax purposes. If you disagree with the value, you have 45 days from the notice date to appeal.
✅When your notice arrives, check your property value, property details, any exemptions, and the appeal deadline.
✅If you already have a homestead exemption, you do not need to reapply unless something about your ownership or eligibility has changed.
✅You may need to contact the Camden County Assessors Office if you turned 62 after January 1, 2025, recently received a 100 percent service‑connected disability rating from the VA, moved, or think your exemption status is incorrect.
