Synagogue schools: Talmud Torah Meyuchad for Jewish Education of Children with Special Needs applications are still open.

Are you serving Jewish children with special needs in your religious school program? The Jewish Foundation provides grants to support the extra staffing, tutoring, materials, and services that help these students benefit from Jewish education.

The Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC) hosted the 2026 National Leadership Summit, its largest-ever pro-Israel student conference, in Washington, D.C. on August 2-4, 2026. There were over 800 students from 200 different colleges from across the nation.

Our summer intern, Payton Einhorn, and this year’s Israel Gap Year scholarship recipient, Ori Koblentz, attended and learned about the grief and advocacy of Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin, parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin. Hersh is the young Israeli-American who was abducted by Hamas from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023 and later murdered in captivity.

We also heard from speakers Senator John Fetterman, Ron Dermer, the former Minister of Strategic Affairs of Israel, Miss Israel, influencers, athletes, and many more.

Learning more about the state of Israel after October 7th and the hardships students have faced on college campuses across the nation was incredibly important to hear. It served as motivation for student leaders to learn the tools and resources to combat antisemitism on campus and support Israel at our colleges.

This month, we celebrated the accomplishments of our scholarship and grant recipients at a special breakfast gathering.

We proudly awarded over $12,000 in college scholarships to nine local students and $19,000 was granted to six individuals for both summer and gap year travel programs. Mazel Tov to all the recipients!

Mazal Tov to Ori Koblentz, a recipient of the Foundation’s Israel Experience Gap Year Scholarship. Ori is enrolled in Mechinat Nachson, leadership preparatory academy in Israel where he will do volunteer work rebuilding on the Gaza envelope (Israeli territory) and teaching English.

Applications are now open for Talmud Torah Meyuchad Grants, for Jewish Education of Children with Special Needs.

The Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven is accepting applications from synagogue schools for the 2026 school year.

Talmud Torah Meyuchad Grants are specific for Jewish Education of Children with Special Needs, providing supplemental financial assistance to religious school programs serving Jewish children with special needs. Grants support added services, staffing, or materials that help students benefit from the religious school program.

Eligible students are in grades K-12 with an IEP or Section 504 Plan who are enrolled in or would attend a supplementary religious school program with proper support.

This grant ensures every child has access to Jewish education.

Deadline: September 30, 2026
